Mission + Vision

MISSION.
PCTC is dedicated to strengthening the legacy of the American Theatre with dynamic, affordable programming that examines the influences of the past on the present and future of our art form.

VISION.
To honor the past and examine how it has shaped us, we program one mainstage production of a classic or new classic work each year (2016 - 2017, Naomi Wallace's One Flea Spare), which serves as a thematic through line for the season. To foster the emerging artists of our time, we program one MainStage production each season of a deserving-but-under-produced contemporary play (2016-2017, Emily Mann's Mrs. Packard). To create future audiences and artists, and to extend the reach of the theatre to a wider demographic, we program free camps and trips to Broadway for underserved youth in New York City through our Little Creatures Act Out initiative.

History

Playhouse Creatures Theatre Company took its first theatrical baby steps in December of 2009. A production of Closer at the Gene Frankel Theatre included current and founding members Patricia Duran, Eric Tucker, Eric Doss and Joseph W. Rodriguez. From the outset, PCTC was committed to creating a home for theatre artists of all disciplines and styles; a place where the theatre could return to being a place of communication and service.

Since 2009, PCTC has produced six MainStage productions, five new works series, five staged readings including John Guare's original work, More Stars Than There Are In Heaven, and several weekend-long Tennessee Williams festivals, as well as cabaret and comedy events.

The company has served over 10,000 audience members both in NYC and in Boston with producing partner, Bridge Repertory Theater. At the same time, PCTC has continued and expanded its efforts to give back to the community through the Little Creatures Act Out camps for underserved youth, free readings and tickets for seniors, and an annual Red Cross blood drive.
